In 2006, the Chiefs finished with a 9-7 record and made the playoffs.

In the 2007 NFL Draft, the Chiefs selected WR Dwayne Bowe. The remaining selections were DT Turk McBride, DT DeMarcus Tank Taylor, RB Kolby Smith, K Justin Medlock, OT Herbert Taylor and TE Michael Allen.
